Benefit Dance for Food Shelf

Seven Stars Center June 4th, 2011

Wow! What a swinging evening was held at the Seven Stars Center with music by the “Still More Cats” band performing their rock and roll music!  The musicians performing were Mike Barsanti on drums, Anne Mapplebeck singing to the accompaniment of her base acoustical guitar, and Peter Neri singing while he played  on his electric and acoustical guitar.  They played their hearts out for 2 hours of entertainment and dance.  Their talents were a total donation to our community food shelf in Sharon.

Families and dance partners came to enjoy the evening. The children not shy at all were swinging with the first songs and soon their parents and other adults joined them on the floor for evening of entertainment and fun.

All felt that this should be a repeated affair for our community.  When have you gone out in Sharon for a community dance lately?  Years ago these were weekly affairs that all looked forward to.

The Sharon Food Shelf was the recipients of generous donations of food and money that will be used to distribute and buy food for those in need in the months to come.

The food shelf is in its 27th year of operation has served 246 clients that included 482 people so far in 2011.

This community service is a mission of the Sharon Congregational Church.
